Catherine's Video

Do the varied camera angle make the movement easier/harder to assess?

  1. The various camera angles makes it harder to assess the movement according to the assignment. Certain angles, especially the close up, loses some of the performance details. How do I know where you are facing? At the same time it brings into focus other aesthetic details making it a more pleasurable viewing experience.

  2. I love the way the music enhanced the dramatic elements of the camera angles. For example, the focus on your hand! Brilliant! It led me into the piece. I do believe the varied camera angles make the specific movements ore difficult to assess, but it also adds to the piece. So, if assessing the quality of your work as a whole, I believe the varied camera angles enhances the work and adds another element to the assessment.

  3. I do agree that camera angles and zooms disorient us a bit because the notion of "front" takes on the decisions of the camera operator and director. The camera adds a different element to the assessment because itʻs not just choreography, but the videography as well that need to be assessed. What was your overall impression?
